Become a mentor!
Make a real difference in the life of a teen parent

What is a mentor?
A mentor is an adult volunteer who is committed to supporting a teen during the challenging years of parenting. By simply listening, bolstering self-esteem, and acknowledging fears and hopes, you can become a positive force for change in a young parent's life.

What is the time commitment?
Many active mentors have jobs and families of their own, so a realistic time commitment is 2 to 4 hours per month. A workable schedule may be weekly or bi-weekly phone calls and a once-a-month personal meeting. You can design a flexible schedule that works for both you and your teen's lifestyles.

How do I become involved?
Call the Teen and Young Parent Program of Knox County at (207) 594-1980 or
toll free 877-972-5804 (in Maine).
