Eat Well

Limited-income families* participating in University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Eat Well Nutrition Education Program, learn—in small groups, in schools, in their homes or through correspondence courses—strategies for expanding their food dollar and eating well on low budgets.

Limited Income Nutrition Program 10-Steps to Good Nutrition

Register for our Limited Income Nutrition “learn by mail” education series from UMaine Extension. 10-Steps to Good Nutrition is easy to read and includes many tips and recipes to help you save money. 

Lessons include:                                     

  • Step 1:   Five Easy Ways to Cut Food Costs

  • Step 2:   Read the Label, and Set a Healthy Table

  • Step 3:   Making Healthy Food Choices

  • Step 4:   Keeping Your Food Safe to Eat

  • Step 5:   The Grain Game: Bread, Cereal, Rice, and Pasta

  • Step 6:   Fruits and Vegetables

  • Step 7:   The Milk Group

  • Step 8:   Meat and Beans

  • Step 9:   Eating Less Fat, Sugar, and Salt

  • Step 10: Creative Snack Ideas

When you return a completed lesson to UMaine Extension the next one will be sent to you. A postage paid envelope is included with each lesson. There are no tests.
